Key on the Wall: 336 Lygon St, Carlton
This is such a lovely restaurant. It’s situated right in the heart of Lygon St, and it has that traditional Italian feeling once you step inside. The staff are friendly and courteous, even the owner of the business gets down for floor service and chit chat to the customers as well. We had a little talk with the owner once, and he mentioned that this place is family-run and was established about 30 years ago, whoa.
I’ve been here a couple of times and I always get their oysters kilpatrick - half a dozen for only $15, good for sharing, or just for youself, if you’re feeling greedy. It’s fresh and the worchestershire sauce is smooth and bursting with flavors, and the bacon bits always finish this dish with an awesome bang.
Price ranges from $15-$26, not ‘that cheap’ but hey, it’s good quality Italian food, it’s definitely worth it! They also serve their own homemade pasta, which is super delicious. You can so tell the difference, you know like, from a pizza hut pasta bowl or something, gees, by the way, don’t eat those stuff unless you have no other choice.
Oh and I should also mention their strawberry daiquiri. It’s sweet and very refreshing, good for an after lunch drink! Love it!
