TGI Friday’s: Jam Factory, 500 Chapel St, South Yarra

With the new value lunch menu, TGI Friday’s is becoming more affordable for cheap food sluts like moi. With $9.95 you can basically get your belly charged up and ready to go.

I’m also thrilled to see the varied dishes on the value menu - I thought with under $15 you can probably only get a dull salad or a snacky type of food, but surprise, they’ve got a pretty good deal going on there, along with a free choice of beer, wine, coffee, tea or soda to accompany your lunch. There’s club sandwich, fish and chips, cheeseburgers, tacos and different tasty salads to choose from. We were handled by really friendly and fast staff - the senior waitress memorized our orders completely and the young one was kind enough to offer assistance in our photo-taking attempts. We had a table just by the laid out glass windows, it was sunny yet breezy - basically, it was a really good day!

My friend ordered the tomato basil chicken pasta from the aforementioned menu and it was quite delicious. The chicken cuts could’ve used more seasoning but the sauce was fresh and tangy - they used fresh chopped tomatoes, which was great. We also had the nachos - the salsa was super fresh - once again - and they put in generous amount of spanish onion in it (I hate lack of onion in dishes like this) and jalapenos! It’s best when it was super hot, all sticky and yummy!

I also had the caesar salad. Now, here’s the deal, I’m quite sorry if you disagree but I had an affair with this salad around 5 years ago and I’m still deeply in love with it - TGI’s caesar salad is the tastiest caesar of em all! It’s creamy and the parmesan was perfectly tossed around, blending in with the fresh lettuce cuts - you can taste perfection in every bite. Seriously. Also in the same love affair category is the Jack Daniel’s wings. Looks quite simple - but it tasted like heaven. The sauce was incredibly sweet, yet savory. The chicken is perfectly cooked and thoroughly marinated, you can feel the juice drizzling as you tear out the golden brown skin with your mouth, oh shit, I should stop right here.

The frozen margarita is good for sharing and with warm, perfect weather, the only thing that could’ve beaten that was the long island iced tea or something. So yeah, definitely come here for a quick lunch - oh and I should also recommend the ribs, oh god the ribs are also good. If you’re not too sure (or too greedy) grab the sampler and you will be all set for a pretty awesome food experience at TGI’s.
