Funky Curry: 164 Bourke St, Melbourne CBD

Authentic Indian cuisine, fairly cheap, the place looks quite interesting, to be honest. Everytime I go into Indian places that uses baine marie to display their food, I can’t help but to wonder if the curries will still retain its flavors or not. I once used to work in a pretty dodgy curry place and my boss would make me add hot water when the curries dry out - but that fucks up the whole dish eventually, of course.

But ‘Funky Curry’ didn’t add hot water to their curries, thank god. You can get a small plate like the one I had for $7.90, choose one meat and vegetable curry. Automatically, I always go for butter chicken and lamb rogan josh but yeah, never really liked the lentils kind. The cashier told me to try the whatever curry she said - it’s fetta cheese. I was so intrigued so I said “Absolutely, I’ll have that, thanks.”
Well turns out, the fetta cheese curry is quite uh.. funky? A bit spicy for my taste, but, really nice in a different way. The rice should also be mentioned - it’s fragrant, cooked with generous amount of herbs, making it even more enjoyable. Butter chicken was excellent - creamy and sweet sauce, also the tandoori chicken was seasoned very well and still very very juicy! Definitely coming back.
